Ahead of the upcoming Monaco Grand Prix, there is a lot of debate around the relevance of this circuit in the Morden F1 era. Due to its narrow lanes and tight curves, it is one of the slowest tracks in the F1 season and it poses a lot of challenges for the drivers.

However, seven-time world champion and Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton urged F1 bosses to make things interesting at Monaco by making changes in formats. Speaking with media at Monte Carlo on Thursday Hamilton said that there is a huge chance of colliding at Monaco.

He said, "Monaco hasn't changed much, the cars are getting bigger and there is a huge risk of colliding with the barriers. I wish we had bigger roads and that the track could be wider, but I don't think that that is ever going to be the case because it is just a small place.”

"The race is continuously pretty much the same it is a one-stop race, so I would say that maybe having special tyres for this race so you have more pit-stops, creates more variability. They can come up with a specific weekend, for this particular weekend.”

“They should come up with some new formula for it rather than it just being the same. You might fall asleep on Sunday during the race, so creating something else, I don't know how you would do that but it would be good."

Lewis Hamilton calls Monaco the crown jewel of Formula 1!

In recent years, people have been saying that the Miami and Las Vegas Grands Prix might replace Monaco as the most important race in Grand Prix racing. However, Hamilton disagrees. He mentioned two other tracks that were also part of the first world championship in 1950.

"Monaco will always be special and hold a top spot, even if it's not always the most exciting race. But it will always be one of the best, along with Silverstone and Monza, because these are the top races in our sport”, says Hamilton.
