The most anticipated driver announcement of Red Bull came as Liam Lawson was chosen as the replacement for Sergio Perez. Yuki Tsunoda, was sidelined and will probably accompany Isack Hadjar at the RB Bulls team. Perez left the team after signing a two-year contract extension with Red Bull in June 2024. After that, his performance went downhill forcing the Red Bull management to break the deal and now they signed Liam Lawson as his replacement. He only raced 11 races in Formula 1 while his teammate Yuki Tsunoda raced a total of 87 races.

Liam Lawson joins Max in 2025
Lawson was the replacement driver for the injured Daniel Ricciardo at VCARB in the 2023 season. Daniel was again retained for the 2024 season, but his performance slumped, giving the New Zealander full-time opportunity to race. He impressed the management by showing some aggression in racing and even took on Fernando Alonso and Sergio Perez in back-to-back races. This fearlessness was the biggest reason that Red Bull management chose Lawson over Tsunoda.
Team principal Christian Horner posted the picture of him and Lawson saying, “I'm delighted to announce that Liam Lawson will join the team in 2025. He’s not only capable of delivering strong results but he’s also a real racer, not afraid to mix it with the best and come out on top."
"His arrival continues the team's long journey of promoting from within the Red Bull junior programme and he follows in the footsteps of championship and race-winning drivers such as Sebastian Vettel and of course, Max verstappen," Horner added.

Hearing the news, Lawson was very excited and said, “To be announced as an Oracle Red Bull racing driver is a lifelong dream for me. Thi sis something I’ve wanted and worked towards since I was eight years old. It's been an incredible journey so far.”
With the announcement, we will have a complete driver lineup next year with Max verstappen and Liam Lawson driving for Red Bull and Yuki Tsunoda/ Isack Hadjar pair for the RB Bulls team. However, many fans and experts are questioning Red Bull's choice of Lawson over Yuki Tsunoda for the senior team.
