Lawson was trying to pass Sergio for more than two laps and felt Checo was not giving him space as he was faster than him. But in the Main straight Lawson passed Perez showing his middle finger at the Mexican driver which many felt was not the appropriate way to behave during racing.
The action was seen as amateurish for a driver, but the youngster has now learned his mistake and also apologised for it. He said “My dad told me off, yeah, as my dad has done many times over the years. I'm very fortunate to have someone like my dad who has played a massive role in, obviously, raising me as a man, but also as a driver, growing up and trying to be professional in the sport.”
After his actions, Liam Lawson's father wasn't impressed and talked about it with Lawson. He added “He wasn't impressed with that and I completely understand why. And obviously, as I said, it's not something I should have done, and I’ll learn from it.” Lawson has a feud not only with Sergio Perez but also with the two-time world champion Fernando Alonso. He had a small brawl with Alonso during the United States Grand Prix Sprint race and Qualifying. After that, Liam Lawson said he is not in F1 to make friends.
