COTA (Circuit of the Americas) ticket sales for the Austin GP 2024 are hitting a record high as fans no longer see Max Verstappen and Red Bull Dominance in the sport. The race organizers of Austin GP see a surge in ticket sales as Formula 1 becomes more competitive, unlike last year's Red Bull's complete domination.
Austin Gp was included in the Formula 1 Calender in 2012. Since then, it has been one of the best attended races in the Formula 1 Calendar. The COTA organisers are mixing races with concerts to pull the crowd to the circuit. After the Pandemic, Formula 1 has found many new followers as they all line up to watch the Texas GP.
The Fans want Competition
The US GP organisers expecting a huge crowd this year for the race as they are hosting Sprint races along with the Eminem Concert on Saturday. They admit ticket sales hit sky-high after Max Verstappen and Red Bull stopped winning races this season.
McLaren, Mercedes and Ferrari turned the tides by winning the last couple of races and completely changing the course of the season. One of the key people said, “Our ticket sales took off when Max Stopped winning and it got more competitive. So, I give a lot of credit to our fan base and the Audience, they’re paying attention and I think it's exciting to see the season shape up the way it is.
We are expecting another big crowd, probably somewhere around where it's been the last couple of years. I would think whatever the record for a Saturday sprint race, we should shatter that record because Eminem has outsold Taylor Swift and we've increased the size of the infield lawn to get to nearly 100,000 for the concert. So, I think 130,000 to 150,000 people will be there for the Saturday sprint race.”
Lando Norris and Max Verstappen are fighting hard for this year's Drivers title and McLaren has already surpassed Red Bull in the Constructors title. Due to this on-track performance, McLaren is enjoying more financial support from its shareholders and new investments are arriving. They could again be the dominant force in F1 like they were a decade ago.
