Lando Norris dominates final Practice Session in Hungary, check FP3 final results

Lando Norris showcased a blistering performance in the final practice session (FP3) of the Hungarian Grand Prix, positioning himself as the favourite to land the pole position. The McLaren driver set the dominant times with an impressive display, leaving competitors in his wake.

Compared to the scorching conditions on Friday, when air and track temperatures soared to 31°C and 59°C respectively, FP3 saw a noticeable change. With cloud cover over the Hungaroring, the air temperature dropped to a still-warm 27°C, but the asphalt cooled significantly by 19 degrees, providing a more favourable environment for the drivers.

Taking full advantage of these conditions, McLaren emerged as the team to watch. Lando Norris delivered a near-perfect lap, clocking a time of 1:16.098s. His performance was closely matched by his teammate Oscar Piastri, who finished just 0.044s behind, cementing McLaren's dominant presence in the session.

Max Verstappen failed to get pace

In contrast, Max Verstappen, the reigning three-time F1 champion, struggled to find his usual pace. The Dutch driver was nearly three-tenths slower in his Red Bull, visibly frustrated as he crossed the line. Verstappen's second attempt at a push lap was marred by a significant lock-up at Turn 1, further hampering his performance.

Lewis Hamilton also faced challenges during FP3. Fresh off his record-breaking ninth British Grand Prix victory, Hamilton could not replicate his form. His Mercedes W15 proved difficult to handle, causing the 39-year-old to lose control at Turn 9 and slide off the track. As a result, Hamilton ended the session in 10th place, 0.688s off the pace set by Norris.
