Mercedes Boss Toto Wolff is very angry at Red Bull’s boss Christian Horner after the later commented about signing George Russell for the 2026 Red Bull team. Toto Wolff called Horner a ‘S*** Stirrer’ as Red Bull Boss said they are going to look out of the pool for the 2026 driver signing. The duo engaging in heat is not the first time as both of them often engage in banter with each other.
Red Bull is searching for a new driver as Max Verstappen's future with the Austrian team is unknown. There were speculations that Max Verstappen would be heading to his key rival team Mercedes after 2025. But Christian Horner refused it by saying “If Mercedes wants to sign Verstappen, Jos Verstappen is available any day.”
Now Christian Horner is eyeing at George Russell who Mercedes Groomed from his junior days till now. During the Singapore weekend, Horner was asked about Red Bull’s Possible drivers in the future. Horner said “We just want to take time to consider what those options look like for the future - and we’re not afraid to go out of the pool. George Russell is out of contract at the end of the next year. It would be foolish not to take that into consideration. There are other talented drivers that could well be out of contract as well.”
Mercedes Boss hits back
Hearing this Mercedes Boss gave a fitting reply “Christian is always trying to Stir S*** up. It's Part of the game. George is a Mercedes Driver, has been forever, and hopefully will be forever. We have a long contract with him.” Russell is currently standing seventh in the driver's championship. He is well ahead of Red Bull’s Sergio Perez. Talking about his current drivers and Strength mismatch horner replied “Of Course, Max is Delivering. Checo has been underperforming this year. But last year he did a good enough job to finish second and win us the constructors championship.
We need to look further down the road. We have got Some great talent. We have got Liam Lawson on the bench. We are not quite sure, looking at the likes of Colapinto, Bearman, and Antonelli, is at that level. Time Will tell.”
