One of the most scary accidents happened at the 2021 British Grand Prix. The two world title contenders Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton were battling each other for the opening lap lead and in doing so, they both touched and Max was thrown into the barriers.
Now let us take a look at the incident captured by a fan sitting on the same corner where Max Verstappen’s car crashed. The 2021 F1 season was one of the greatest seasons in Formula 1 as the two drivers challenged each other with back-to-back counter punches.
The British GP was Lewis Hamilton’s home race and Max wanted to win there and prove his domination. As the lights went out the two started to gain pace and Mercedes had a stronger setup than Red Bull. Verstappen wanted to defend his pole position as Hamilton looked for space to gain position.
As they approached the copse corner Max went to his right while Lewis Hamilton charged at him to gain position. Lewis thought Max would leave space for him to overtake while Max didn't have any idea where Lewis Hamilton was due to the blind spot.

They both touched at a very high speed and the Red Bull car was thrown into the barriers at an extreme pace. The audience sitting there was scared as the rubble and dust enveloped all over the place and many were seen running for their lives.
If the incident happened back in the 1960s then we would not have seen Max Verstappen alive after that accident. He had a 50G crash which could have ended his physical movements for life. Fortunately, the Red Bull driver didn't suffer any big injury, just some concussions due to the heavy impact.
Lewis Hamilton served a 10-second penalty and won the British Grand Prix. Max Verstappen called the win and celebration by Mercedes as disrespectful and unsportsmanlike. Even Mercedes boss Toto Wolff regrets not talking with Red Bull or Max Verstappen about his health after the incident.
