McLaren's Lando Norris topped the charts on Day 1 of Formula 1 pre-season testing in Bahrain. All 20 drivers participated in the testing as a power outage briefly halted the afternoon session. The FIA made up for the lost time by extending the time by one hour.

The teams are now preparing for Day 2 in Bahrain. Reigning champion Max Verstappen will not take part in the testing as Red Bull have decided to let Liam Lawson take part in both sessions. The two had divided the responsibility on Day 1. This will allow him to get used to the new car.

In addition, Williams has also opted for the same strategy, with only Carlos Sainz taking the wheel of the FW47 for both sessions on Day 2. Alex Albon will be the second driver to miss the testing alongside Verstappen.

Apart from that, the remaining eight teams will have split the duties of their drivers. While McLaren will continue with Oscar Piastri in the morning session and Lando Norris in the afternoon session, Ferrari, Mercedes, Haas, and Alpine have switched their lineups.
