Los Blancos defeated Cadiz 3-0 to get within striking reach of winning La Liga again. With one goal and one assist, Brahim Diaz performed admirably for Real Madrid when Carlo Ancelotti rested most of his star players.

In the first half, Militao came the closest for Los Blancos, his 30-yard attempt stinging through the hands of a sprawled custodian. After the interval, Carlo Ancelotti's team appeared to be playing with more confidence. And Diaz supplied the pivotal moment, turning his man and then guiding a shot from outside the penalty area into the top corner.

By cutting across for Jude Bellingham, who scored a goal five minutes after being substituted on, Diaz also set up the second goal. With ten minutes left, Dani Carvajal had a chance to seal the victory, but he missed the goal. But in stoppage time of the second half, Joselu compensated for his blunder by finishing a sweeping counterattack and securing a comfortable win.

Madrid were then forced to wait as, should Barcelona played Girona in the Catalan derby. If the visitors lost, they would end up helping their rivals in winning the title at the end of the day.

Will Real Madrid celebrate their title victory at Cibeles fountain?

Real Madrid have prevailed and FC Barcelona failed to defeat Girona, the championship would theoretically be guaranteed to go to the former. However, with the 4-2 loss for Barcelona today has guarenteed them of the La Liga title and the celebrations have begun in Madrid.

But Carlo Ancelotti, the team's manager, is putting more emphasis on the team's next Champions League semi-final second leg versus Bayern Munich on Wednesday. A thrilling La Liga title victory might provide momentum for the pivotal match in Europe, but Ancelotti seems to be willing to take a calculated risk by not allowing celebrations to break out. Cibeles fountain's traditional champagne shower will have to wait as the UEFA Champions League trophy is still in reach and might celebrate after they win their 15th title.
