Chelsea FC are having a poor season in the English Premier League. The Blues are currently 8th in the league table and far away from the European qualification race for the next season. Mauricio Pochettino's side lacked consistency in the ongoing season. The head coach is under fire after their poor show in the league. The side has won only 14 games and having dropped crucial points they are on 51 points.
Since Toddy Boehly was appointed the new investor, the club has spent €1.1 billion on transfer fees since summer 2022, but the results have not been on their side. The West London side is currently looking for some coaches ahead of the next season as the management might not continue with the Argentine manager. However, he only got one season with the club and could not do much with the set of players he had in his hand.
There will be a review with The Chelsea hierarchy set to conduct a review into his first season in charge and then the management will look at whether to give him a chance to rebuild his squad or not as this is the second consecutive year they are not in the top four and outside of the European spots as well and this is also a concern for the Argentine.
Is flick a favourite for the Chelsea job?
Hansi Flick, the former Bayern Munich manager is the top priority for the London-based club to replace the 52-year-old manager in the upcoming season. As per the recent developments, the treble-winning coach is not on duty with any club or nation. Flick's system of play has been keen to manage a big-six club in the Premier League and had previously been in talks with Tottenham before his spell in charge of Germany's national side.
The 59-year-old was previously linked back in 2021 when Frank Lampard was sacked, but they opted for Thomas Tuchel. The former helped Bayern Munich win a treble in the 2019-20 campaign as the Bavarians won the Bundesliga, UEFA Champions League and DFB-Pokal. He was crowned UEFA Men’s Coach of the Year for 2019-20 as well as German Football Manager of the Year.
However, there are other names in the market with the likes of Roberto De Zerbi, Ruben Amorim, and Antonio Conte. But the wild rumours are not yet confirmed as Flick is the favourite to replace Pochettino if the club decides to sack their manager.
