Gunther was crowned the King of the Ring for 2024. The Ring General became the King General by beating Randy Orton. The result of the match turned out to be controversial, as the referee gave room for a pinfall despite Randy's shoulders not touching the ring. Orton has been out of action since then due to the knee injury and is likely to return in the next few weeks.

When asked about the result, Triple H hinted at a potential rematch. If such a case arises, the 14-time world champion is likely to be the King of the Ring. Gunther claiming the win was not a bad decision. However, the way he won was not ideal. The fact that the World title shot was given to the winners of the match meant that Orton should've ideally won it.

The World Heavyweight Championship is currently busy with a lot of eyes on it. Damian Priest, the current champion, will defend it against Drew McIntyre at the Clash at the Castle. Not to forget, even CM Punk is potentially a step away from getting a title shot. If Seth Rollins is set to return, he might be in the contention as well.

Cody Rhodes vs Randy Orton a better Summerslam match

Amidst all the chaos on Raw, Smackdown's world champion Cody Rhodes seems to be not having that tough a competition. Only AJ Styles is currently in the scheme of title shot. Hence, it is right to allow the viper to get a title shot at Rhodes. In the rematch, his win would be apt, as it would mean Randy's win and a proper opponent for the American Nightmare.

Moreover, Gunther himself has not appeared on Raw since King of the Ring. Having the title shot revolve around him would not be ideal. A Cody vs Orton match at Summerslam would serve better than a Gunther vs McIntyre/Priest match at Summerslam. Hence, there is a good chance of Gunther losing the crown if there is a rematch with the legend killer.
