Jimmy Uso was scheduled to return around Summerslam or on Smackdown a few weeks before it. However, the return of the star wrestler was delayed by at least two weeks. There are many reasons behind the delayed return of the Bloodline star. Two big reasons are to give leverage to the new Bloodline and the hype of Roman Reigns.
Jimmy was taken out by Solo Sikoa and Tama Tonga in front of Paul Heyman's own eyes. The star wrestler was not medically cleared to be in action for over three months. In July, he was medically cleared to return to the ring. Many reports claimed that he could return to WWE before Roman's comeback at Summerslam.
Despite being medically clear, despite the return of Roman, it took over two months for Jimmy to return to assist the OTC. Many wondered if he was going through an injury leading to an extended delay. However, Jimmy Uso did not have any such problem. In fact, he was found with Roman and Heyman backstage at Summerslam.
Reasons behind Jimmy Uso's delayed return at WWE Bad Blood
There are two reasons behind the delayed return of the former tag team champion. The first of them was to give enough leverage for the new Bloodline to shine. Compared to the old faction which was well established under the leadership of Roman, the new Bloodline had several challenges.
Solo Sikoa was fairly new to the leadership role and needed some time to establish himself as someone who could be hated by the fans. By the time Roman returned, Solo was ready to receive all the hate in the world. But the same could not be said for the entire Bloodline.
Jacob Fatu and the Tonga brothers needed to get over the fans as well. While Fatu was able to do it in a really quick time, the Tonga brothers needed their moments. They got it after winning and defending the tag team titles. The other reason was the hype around the return of Roman.
The OTC's return was epic and the fans were not over it even after a few weeks. He returned to Smackdown a few days after it and there was the same hype. Hence, Jimmy needed some time for his return to have enough hype. When he did return, there was a loud pop from the fans, justifying the creative decision.
