Sami Zayn supported Palestine in their distress against Israel by representing its flag on his ring gear during the match against Karrion Kross at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, at the WWE Night of Champions. Additionally, Sami wore the a keffiyeh during the entrance before his match and got the crowd on his back.

Sami had a tough time dealing with Kross backstage on WWE Raw for the last few weeks. After losing to Randy Orton on WWE SmackDown which cost him a shot at becoming the King of the Ring, Zayn was confronted yet again by Kross and his wife Scarlett Bordeux. Kross got into Sami's head and made things worse for himself.

The former Intercontinental Champion had no option but to reply to Karrion with a punch on his face. Kross got what he wanted, as Sami claimed he talked to Adam Pearce and set a match between the two at the Night of Champions. Kross smilingly accepted the match as he wanted the same.

In Riyadh, the duo delivered a good match, as the fans were invested in it. Sami felt he was in his backyard, as he always does in Saudi Arabia. It was Karrion's first match in a major PLE for a long time. The former Final Testament star showed why he has been getting a huge support from the fans over the last few weeks.

While Zayn dominated the first few minutes of the match, Karrion returned well and had an upper hand over his opponent for the rest of the match. Towards the end, Sami delivered a Helluva Kick and pinned Kross to claim a win via pinfall.
