For the first time after losing his Intercontinental Championship in WrestleMania XL, Gunrher has reacted about the match. Taking to Instagram, the Ring general wrote, "The higher you climb, the harder you fall - Sky is the limit!" as he talked about the incredible match against Sami Zayn on Night One of WrestleMania XL. The fans appreciated the German-based wrestler in his comments section.
Gunther took to his social media and posted the image of Zayn delivering a brainbuster to him. It was at that point Gunther lost his senses. Till then, the ring general was having an easy time in the middle, knocking off Sami for fun. But a resilient Sami Zayn from there took over, which was unexpected for Gunther. Following it, Sami delivered two helluva kicks in a row.
As Sami pinned Gunther to end his streak of 666 days as the Intercontinental Champion, there was a surprise from the fans who did not anticipate the upset. On Monday Night Raw after Mania, Sami teamed up with Chad Gable to take on the Imperium duo of Ludwig Kaiser and Vinci after getting "You deserve it" appreciation chants from the fans. Gunther was not in the arena.
What's next for Gunther?
After being arguably the greatest Intercontinental Champion of all time, Gunther deserves nothing less than a shot at the world title. He elevated the title to the heights it had never been before. From being a mid-card title in the past, it was nearly equivalent to a top-card title. Hence, Sami's win was a shocker for the fans. It is interesting to see where the Imperium member heads from here.
The ring general's in-ring work is fantastic. His mic skills have improved after joining the main roster and becoming the Intercontinental Champion. Gunther has everything it takes to become a world champion. He probably needs a better finisher. The German wrestler might be in a feud against Damian Priest or Cody Rhodes in the upcoming days for the World championship.
