The WWE has welcomed Mariah May.  Everyone ended up fighting when the lights abruptly went out during a sequence when many ladies claimed Jacy Jayne's recently won NXT ladies's Championship.  Upon their return, May was spotted perched.  When fans recognized the former AEW star, they responded angrily inside the WWE Performance Center.

As the world's top women's division has only become more glamorous, May said that she had finally made it to the ringside and informed the fighters that they may name her the future NXT Women's Champion. WWE subsequently shared a backstage footage of May declaring, "it's about damn time."

Last week, it was speculated that May was probably headed to the WWE since her profile was taken off AEW's roster website, which is typically an indication that a star has left the promotion.  May hadn't been seen on AEW TV since she lost to Toni Storm at AEW Revolution in March. Bryan Alvarez and Dave Meltzer both stated in April that she would probably join the WWE once her contract ended.

Mariah May is the most recent AEW star to sign with NXT

In November 2023, May made her AEW debut. She and Storm had a lengthy storyline, with May first allying turning on Storm after winning the 2024 Owen Hart Foundation tournament. Mariah May then defeated Storm to win the AEW Women's Championship at All In last year, and she kept it until losing it to Storm again at Grand Slam Australia in February.

May is the most recent AEW star to sign with NXT, alongside former North American champion Ricky Saints and current NXT North American champion Ethan Page. The NXT commentators notably failed to mention May by name. They did the same when Saints (previously Ricky Starks) made his debut.  Following the promotion of previous champions Stephanie Vaquer, Giulia, and Roxanne Perez to the main roster following WrestleMania, her NXT signing helps complete the women's division of the developmental brand.
