The TNA World Championship is currently held by an NXT wrestler as Trick Williams became the first wrestler under contract with the WWE to win the TNA World Championship on Sunday night, making history. Williams won the championship in the NXT Battleground main event after defeating Joe Hendry with a belt shot. It was the first time the TNA World Championship has ever been defended on WWE television.
For this match, Trick Williams and Joe Hendry engaged in a lot of mind games and exchanged moves early on. Although Hendry was there to put on the offensive, Williams finally gained control of the match. "We believe" was yelled at Joe Hendry by Tampa fans as the game continued. Trick Williams, nevertheless, never let up. He made the offense heavier. Trick Williams was then thrown down for a two count when Hendry caught him.

It seemed like Joe Hendry was hurt at the ringside as the bout went on. Trick Williams just rolled him back into the ring for the referee to check on him. Joe Hendry hit a Rock Bottom on the announce table after riding up the steel stairs once again. He then performed a Trick Shot for a near fall in the ring. The referee took away the heel Williams' TNA title belt after he attempted to use it as a weapon in the final moments of the match. To count the pin, the referee left the title belt on the mat as Hendry attempted a roll-up.

TNA President watched and enjoyed the match
Trick Williams smashed Hendry's face-first against the belt after kicking out and pressing his eye with the thumb. When he got the chance, Williams attacked Hendry with a trick shot, his signature move, and pinned him down to win the match. Carlos Silva, TNA President, was watching the game from the front. After Trick Williams won the title, he was overjoyed.
WWE and TNA came under one roof and have started working together after they collaborated in 2024. After defeating Nick Nemeth at TNA Genesis 2025, Hendry ruled as the TNA World Champion for four months. On this Tuesday, Trick Williams will enter the ring as TNA World Champion on NXT.
