Dewald Brevis was picked by Pretoria Capitals for a record sum of R16.5 Million ($942,000) in the SA20 2026 Auctions. Aiden Markram was the second costliest player, who was picked by Durban Super Giants for R14.00 Million ($800,000). Joburg Super Kings invested R9.00 Million ($513,000) in Wiaan Mulder, while Sunrisers Eastern Cape paid R6.1 Million ($348,000) for Matthew Breetzke.

The teams went all guns blazing for a mix of emerging players and established superstars for their team. Both veterans and youngsters bagged a good amount in the auctions given their demand. Batters, bowlers, and all-rounders were all in demand, given it was a mega auction. Four of the top five most costliest buys were made in the SA20 2026 Auctions.

Team wise costliest players at the SA20 2026 Auctions

Pretoria Capitals

Pretoria Capitals went all out for Dewald Brevis and bought him for a record sum of R16.5 Million ($942,000), which is now a record in the SA20 Auctions. At R3.2 million, Connor Esterhuizen was the second costliest player they bought for the 2026 season.


Durban Super Giants

Durban Super Giants went after Aiden Markram badly hoping for a change in leadership. The 2-time SA20 winning captain was sold for R14.00 Million ($800,000), which is the second highest buy in the SA20 Auctions history. Their second biggest buy was Gerald Coetzee for a sum of R7.40 Million ($422,000), which is the fifth highest buy in the SA20 Auctions history.

Joburg Super Kings 

Joburg Super Kings brought some top South African bowlers and bowling All-rounders. Wiaan Mulder, who was on the cusp of breaking Brian Lara's Test record against Zimbabwe, was sold for R9.00 Million ($513,000), which is the fourth highest buy in the SA20 Auctions history. Likewise, Nandre Burger was bought for R6.30 Million ($359,000), which is the seventh highest buy in the SA20 Auctions history.


Sunrisers Eastern Cape

Following Aiden Markram's exit, SEC named Tristan Stubbs as their new captain. At the SA20 2026 Auctions, they bought the emrging Matthew Breetzke for R6.10 Million ($348,000), which is the eightht highest buy in the SA20 Auctions history. Anrich Nortje was their second costliest player at R5.00 Million.

MI Cape Town

MI Cape Town did not go for many expensive players, as they already had many such players retained in the squad. Their constliest player at the auction was Rassie van der Dussen at R5.20 Million. Their second costliest players from the auctions were Tian van Vuuren and Karim Janat respectively at R1.00 Million.


Paarl Royals

Much like MI Cape Town, Paarl Royals did not pay too high for their players at the SA20 2026 Auctions. Their costliest player from the auction was Ottneil Baartman at R5.10 Million. Paarl's second costliest buy from the auction was Delano Potgieter at R2.60 Million.
