Rohit Sharma and Cody Rhodes, two athletes from different sports but with similar story and passion

Rohit Sharma and Cody Rhodes have won the biggest events of their respective sports in 2024. But the path to their glory was not an easy one. In that regard, they have some similarities in their journey to the top. Despite the setbacks, they made comebacks and entertained the fans. The duo overcame massive challenges and finished the story on the big stage.

Cody started his WWE career which could not get going as well as he would have liked. He was a part of many factions and tag teams. Nothing seemed to work for him, which led to him making a move to AEW. Rohit had a great start to his career. But till 2013, he could not maintain consistency as a batter. In fact, the star batter was disappointed for not being picked in India's T20 World Cup 2024 squad.

Things changed for Cody in AEW where he played a key role in the establishment of the company. He was the EVP of AEW till he made a return to WWE in 2021. Rohit, who was a middle-order batter till 2013, was promoted up the order. He made a name for himself as a batter and scored a lot of runs in the following years.

Eventual glory after setbacks

However, they had a lot of setbacks. Cody did return to WWE and made a big impact. But his final goal of being the first world champion from his family seemed to be a distant dream. In 2023 and 2024, he won Royal Rumbles. He lost WrestleMania 39 and nearly got no opportunity to have a title shot at WrestleMania XL.

But he was determined and worked hard towards his chances. The fans acknowledged it and went "We want Cody" when The Rock got a title shot. He ended up finishing the story for his entire family. Rohit individually performed well in the ODI World Cup 2019 and 2023. Despite doing everything he could, Sharma fell short of his goal.

There was a lot of criticism for the star player despite doing well as a batter individually. But he took it as a challenge. Not many backed him to deliver the goods in the T20 WC 2024. But when the chips were down and the pressure was highest, Rohit stood tall and batted well against the top teams in the world and helped India to their first glory since 2013. It was a brilliant comeback story.
