Rey Misterio Sr., a Mexican wrestling legend, died at the age of 66, and the wrestling community is in mourning. Misterio Sr. was a pivotal character in Lucha Libre who had a big influence on the sport both inside and outside of the ring. Although, some admirers have misunderstood his news, Misterio Sr.'s demise is confusing because his name is so similar to that of his nephew Rey Mysterio.
A key figure in the wrestling industry was Miguel Angel Lopez Dias, better known as Rey Misterio Sr. Since the beginning of his career in January 1976, he has established himself as a dynamic and accomplished competitor. He was a mainstay in the Tijuana Wrestling, Pro Wrestling Revolution, and World Wrestling Association (WWA), among other prominent Mexican wrestling organizations.

Mysterio Sr. won many awards during his career, including the WWA World Junior Light Heavyweight Championship. He further cemented the family's history in the sport by winning the WWA Tag Team Championship with his nephew, WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio Jr.
Rey Misterio has huge impact on wrestling
The impact of Rey Misterio Sr. goes much beyond his achievements. In addition to this, he was the great-uncle of current WWE superstar Dominik Mysterio and the uncle of Rey Mysterio Jr., a well-known member of the WWE Hall of Fame. He also helped shape the careers of several up-and-coming wrestlers and served as a mentor to his nephew. Under his direction, a multigenerational wrestling legacy was established that still has an impact on the business today.
