'I was like..' - Randy Orton on CM Punk overshadowing his return at the Survivor Series 2023 (Source: X)
Randy Orton appeared in the interview with Michael Cole ahead of his WWE Bash match against Gunther. The star wrestler was asked about a lot of things including his return at the Survivor Series 2023. While his return was announced, CM Punk's return was kept as a surprise. When Cole was asked about the duo's return, Randy gave an expression as if he couldn't believe it.
When Michael asked Randy about the return of Punk, the Viper revealed his conversation with Triple H. The 14-time world champion said he had a talk with Hunter an hour before the show where they discussed the way of pulling off his return. Orton added that Triple H added that CM Punk would return later in the night after the Men's War Games.

The star wrestler revealed how he felt hearing the news. He gave an expression as if to say, "Excuse me?" It was unexpected by all means for him like for the fans. The WWE Superstar claimed he was cool with the return of Punk despite he deserved a better return for he was coming back to the arena for the first time in over one and a half years.

Orton said that after the end of the War Games, he realized that his moment of return was great as he received a massive pop. He felt Punk was similarly going to his moment. Orton claimed that he was OK with it after the end of the event. However, Randy Orton claimed that going into the event, he was unsure how to react to that.
The Viper claimed that he went to Punk and had a bit of chat after the event. After the Survivor Series, Randy has had some great matches. Punk, however, got injured at the men's Royal Rumble match and remained out of action for months. At SummerSlam, Punk took part in his first official match. At WWE Bash, he claimed his maiden win since WWE return.
