The first PLE of the year was the Royal Rumble. Its MVP was Bron who showed what he could do in a major PLE. In the Elimination Chamber, Tiffany showed she could be one of the top stars of the women's roster. While the first two PLEs saw great performances from emerging stars, the WrestleMania XL was about an experienced wrestler.

Seth stole the show at the biggest party of the year. Despite having an MCL tear, Seth wrestled for 44 minutes on Night One, where he also saved Cody from sustaining a Roman spear. On Night two, he opened with Drew McIntyre and delivered a good match despite the injury.

Big guns step up in the second half of the year

The visionary later sacrificed himself in the main event to ensure Cody finished his story. At Backlash, the MVP was the French crowd for elevating the overall quality of the show. At the King and Queen of the Ring, Gunther stood out with a great match against Randy Orton.

At the Clash at the Castle, CM Punk in his brief appearance changed the complexion of the Main Event leading to his feud with Drew. At the Money in the Bank, Naomi was at her athletic best and gave her best performance of the year. At Summerslam, Roman Reigns returned and addressed Solo Sikoa's aggression.

At the WWE Bash in Berlin, Orton proved age was just a number. At Bad Blood, Drew showed his resilience and became a part of the Match of the Year with a solid performance. At Crown Jewel, Cody made a statement by becoming the inaugural Crown Jewel Champion. At Survivor Series, Jimmy showed he could be a future main eventer. On Saturday Night's Main Event, KO turned out to be a badass villain.
