At FAN EXPO Chicago 2025, John Cena was asked about the Wrestling match he would've loved to be a part of. The 17-time world champion wished he were a part of the WrestleMania 3 match between Hulk Hogan and Andre the Giant. Cena was selfish in wishing so, as he regarded Andre the Giant as the measuring stick back in the 1980s.

He recalled how Andre was regarded as a giant both by his physical stature and his presence as an individual. Cena claimed that Andre's match with Hogan was one of the biggest reasons he became a fan of WWE, and has said in previous interviews that both of them inspired him as a Wrestling fan.

"Just selfishly, Andre, because he was like the measuring stick. The folklore behind Andre the Giant is mythical, and both physical, as his presence, but also in, like, the folklore of the fraternity, of the brotherhood of wrestling, especially the WWF territory," Cena said at FAN EXPO Chicago 2025.

"Andre was a global phenomenon," - John Cena

The match between Hogan and Andre at Mania 3 is widely regarded as one of the greatest Wrestling matches of all time. One of the spots in the match, Hogan's insane Bodyslam to Andre, is one of the greatest moments in the history of Wrestling.

Cena felt everyone in the world would want to be a part of the match. Hence, he did not find it wrong to be a bit selfish to wish to be a part of it. "I'm sure it's across the world, because Andre was a global phenomenon. But selfishly, yes. That would be the one, Andre the Giant," Cena added in his statement.
