Is WWE silently building Sami Zayn's road to maiden world title reign? (X)
Overview
- Sami Zayn has been out of action for an indefinite time, following attacks from Karrion Kross and Bron Breakker on WWE Raw
- His return could potentially witness his heel turn and a complete change of character and costumes
- Given the support he has in different parts of the world, WWE might finally push him for a world title reign
Sami Zayn has achieved nearly everything in WWE except for becoming a world champion. He has been a tag team champion multiple times, won the Intercontinental Championship by ending Gunther's record reign of 666 days at WrestleMania, and even main-evented WrestleMania with Kevin Owens and ended the record world tag team title reign of Jey Uso and Jimmy Uso.
Sami has had shots at the world title in the past, the most recent being against Gunther in 2024. However, he could never become a world champion; that could change in the next few months. For now, Sami is out of action indefinitely due to the assault from Karrion Kross and Bron Breakker on WWE Raw.

Sami remains one of the top Babyfaces of the company, which could also change. He would be tired of playing the supportive role to all of his friends and getting nothing in return. The time might be up for him to turn heel and have a change in his character.
Will Sami Zayn become a world champion by the end of 2026?
Through Breakker's promo, Sami's beard and his looks were targeted, which could change when he returns. As a negative character, he might be more appealing to the fans than he is as a face. Randy Orton, before his King of the Ring Semifinal match against Sami, regarded him to be a future world champion.

Fans reacted wildly to that statement, which meant they wanted to see him as a world champion. Support-wise, Sami gets the biggest pop in WWE PLEs in Canada and Saudi Arabia. He might be ready for a push to the world title scene and might become one by the end of 2026.
