John Cena could be taking revenge against the fans for what he had to suffer for years. In his prime, as Cena won a huge majority of his matches, fans did not like his booking and often showed their disapproval. John Cena might be giving back to such fans, as he refused to enter with a new theme song or dress.

John showed up on WWE Raw for the first time since turning heel at the Elimination Chamber. However, he maintained that he was neither a Babyface, nor a heel, but just a human being. He claimed fans were responsible for him to become a stone-hearted guy. He blamed the fans for being selfish and expecting everything from him.

In Kayfabe, Cena might be taking revenge against the fans who booed him out of the arena, chanted Cena sucks every week, and hated his booking in the past. It might work well for a heel turn, as it could blur the line between an entertaining villain and a villain with a cause.

Will John Cena and fans get an eventual payoff?

Cena turned against the people as he felt to been in a toxic and abusive relationship for a long time. He wanted to get rid of all the fans who only thought about themselves and did not care what he felt. Cena claimed the ones who chanted "Let's go Cena" were also selfish.

Cena took a dig at one of the kids in the arena and claimed it included him too. It was a highly impactful promo and gave a lot of hints. While Cena did not open up on the reason behind aligning with The Rock, he let the fans know about his turning against them.

In Kayfabe, it augurs well, as the story is all about Cena vs fans, which could have a great payoff when he eventually retires later this year. The fact that John did not get any sort of cheers from the fans and Cody was 100% the face, explained how great the segment was.
