Once upon a time, the Money in the Bank contract used to be of high relevance in WWE. Even now, there is a relevance for the wrestlers winning the briefcase. However, the value of the contract has been reduced due to the poor execution of the story following the win from the candidates. There is a need to bring the lost glory of the briefcase.

It acts as an opportunity for the emerging wrestlers to make a name for themselves. But the norm was broken in 2019 when Brock Lesnar came as an unannounced participant and won the briefcase. While he successfully cashed in the contract against Seth Rollins, it was probably not needed for an established wrestler like the Beast to win the match. It did nothing good back then.

The following year in 2020, Otis won the contract. The entire year was chaotic. He lost the rights of the contract following a loss in the Hell in the Cell match to The Miz in October. The Awesome wrestler could not cash in the title as John Morrison cashed in on his behalf. He finally cashed in the briefcase to win the world title. The story did nothing good for the company.

Forgettable cashing in from Austin Theory

In 2021, Big E won the contract and successfully cashed in to win the world title. It was probably the only good outcome of the briefcase in the last few years. But in 2022, by default, the contract was set for cashing in against all kinds of champions. Austin Theory turned out to be dumb as he cashed in for the United States Championship of all the titles on the roster.

Damian Priest had numerous failed cash-ins after he won the briefcase in 2023. The fans claimed it to be one of the worst runs for a Money in the Bank contract winner. Had he not cashed in against Drew McIntyre at WrestleMania XL, it would have been a joke. His run as the winner lasted for 281 days, the most for a men's wrestler.
