There were speculations that Tama Tonga has been considering joining the WWE. Notably, the 41-year-old superstar ended his NJPW stint in a tag match at Sapporo's The New Beginning. In addition, he had previously disclosed having talks with a major sports entertainment firm.
Tama (actual name: Alipate Aloisio Leone) may be mistaken by fans for Roman Reigns' biological relative. However, this is not true, as the current Undisputed WWE Universal Champion is Samoan, whereas the previous NJPW star is from the Tonga group.
Meanwhile, Tama Tonga is considered one of the family members of the Anoa'i family. When Tonga revealed that he would be on his way to WWE, some fans suspected that he could potentially join The Bloodline upon his arrival. Although Haku (Tonga Fifita) and his children are regarded as being a part of the dynasty, Tonga was not included in the family trees that The Rock exhibited at the WrestleMania 40 press conference a few weeks ago.
We do consider Tama as a family: Lance Anoa'i
Lance Anoa'i recently talked with Steve Fall about his father, brothers, and family's bond with Tonga.
"Every time I see Haku, he's my uncle. A lot of respect for him. I believe it's just more like the island culture. You know, we're all from the South Pacific. So the islanders just stick together man like it's just one breed. But yeah, I saw Tama Tanga growing up. I hung out with them while I was out in Japan. Whenever our schedules blessed us to meet up and have dinner. So there's always love there. And man, I don't know if it's true or not. I've been reading on the internet that Tama Tonga has signed," Lance Anoa'i said.
"Jey is kinda all alone. We do consider Tama as family. So I think Jey can use some help [on Raw]. Especially when you know Solo and Jimmy keep creeping over the wall and attacking Jey and then setting up hopefully for I believe a Wrestlemania match. That's what we're hoping for," he added further.
