Gunther made a statement by thrashing Xavier Woods on Monday Night Raw. The past week, the New Day had challenged Imperium after the Ring General registered himself for the King of the Ring competition. Woods, who is the most recent winner in 2021, took a dig at the former Intercontinental Champion. It led to a tag team match between Woods, Kofi Kingston and Ludwig Kaiser, Vinci.
As the duo of Kaiser and Vinci lost, the former betrayed the latter and attacked him badly, as per the plans. This week on Monday Night Raw, Gunther took on Woods in a one-on-one battle. The ring general showed no mercy on Woods and absolutely dominated the match right from the word go. The chop fest started in Kansas City and never stopped till Woods gave up.
Gunther delivered chop after chop to the great reaction from the fans. The ring general looked in his elements and annihilated the New Day. Woods showed flashes of his comeback but could not sustain the momentum for a longer time. The Imperium chief replied to Woods the perfect way possible with his in-ring supremacy. Kofi Kingston tried to cheer up his teammate but failed to do so.
Gunther targets injured knee of Woods
During the match, Woods got stuck in the apron. The longest reigning Intercontinental Champion took the advantage if it and delivered chops to Woods' right knee. The New Day's member was hurt by it. Gunther realized the pain Woods underwent. From there on, he targeted the right knee of Woods and chopped the exact region to take advantage. It was the same knee Woods sustained an injury a few months back.
Towards the end, Gunther held on to his submission move. Xavier struggled to get out of the clutch. Kingston tried to get his partner fight back. Woods was so close to the apron, but Gunther dragged him back and delivered an STF* which forced Woods to tap out. The Imperium's chief made a statement by beating Woods with no mercy whatsoever. His opponents could meet similar fate in the days to come.
