Gunther enters his maiden King of the Ring final by beating Jey Uso

Gunther overcame Jey Uso to enter his maiden King of the Ring final. After declaring himself for the tournament upon losing the Intercontinental Championship to Sami Zayn on WrestleMania XL, Gunther has managed to beat Sheamus, Kofi Kingston, and Jey Uso on his way to enter the final of the King of the Ring. The matches of Gunther against Kofi and Jey had some similarities.

In both matches, Gunther's opponent tried to knock him out in the first few minutes. While the New Day's Kofi attacked Gunther event before the start of the match, the Younger Uso had the early momentum in the match. The Ring General however stayed resilient in the matchup. As claimed in the arena before the start of the match, Gunther showed that Jey is not a match for him.

After getting hit in the first few minutes, the former IC Champion targeted the right shoulder of the Main Event Uso. It paid dividends for the former NXT UK Champion. Throughout the match, he targeted Jey's right shoulder and claimed a huge advantage. Jey was good in the ring and managed to stay alive in the match kicking out in every instance possible.

Gunther claims win via submission

However, it was a bit too difficult to stop Gunther in this amazing run who seems to be close to unbeatable. The ring general delivered chop after chop and tired down the former Bloodline member. Jey had no option but to tap out. Yet, he gave a tough fight and had Gunther in trouble for a brief moment when he delivered spit punches. Gunther kicked out at two to stay alive.

Jey decided to finish the match quickly. After copping vicious chops, Jey delivered a spear out of nowhere and delivered a Uso splash. however, the referee got injured in the process which led to a delay in the pinfall. Gunther got some time to recover and kicked out at two. The ring general forced Jey to submit the match with a unique submission maneuver.
