WWE will resume its international premium live event tour next month. Following post-WWE WrestleMania 40 performances in France and Saudi Arabia, WWE returns to Scotland for WWE Clash at the Castle, a relaunch of the event that premiered in 2022. Aside from their brief encounter at WrestleMania XL, The Scottish Warrior beat The Archer of Infamy on Raw's January 22 show earlier this year. McIntyre and Priest had also stood together after losing a WarGames match last year.
The inaugural WWE Clash at the Castle, which originated in Wales, saw home countryman Drew McIntyre challenging then-Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns for his championships in a failed effort. With this year's tournament taking place in McIntyre's native nation of Scotland, all indicators point to the Scottish Warrior playing a significant role when the June premium live event rolls around.
Following a minor elbow stinger that forced him to withdraw from the King of the Ring competition, McIntyre has been cleared to participate, according to WWE Chief Content Officer Paul "Triple H" Levesque. In keeping with his word, Triple H said that McIntyre would challenge WWE World Heavyweight Champion Damian Priest for the championship on June 15 at WWE Clash at the Castle in his home country of Scotland.
Drew McIntyre match against Damian Priest is rematch from WWE WrestleMania 40
Drew McIntyre's championship match is a rematch from WWE WrestleMania 40. After defeating then-champion Seth Rollins to win the title, McIntyre mocked CM Punk at ringside until Punk assaulted him, leaving him vulnerable to Priest's Money in the Bank cash-in. Priest won the championship at WWE WrestleMania XL after paying in his Money in the Bank briefcase on McIntyre, who had previously beaten Seth Rollins.
McIntyre's title run came to an end in under five minutes, in a contest that lasted only seconds. With no Money in the Bank danger operating right now, McIntyre will have a genuine one-on-one shot at the crown next month.
