On Friday Night SmackDown before WWE SummerSlam, John Cena claimed he was finally back, marking his face turn, and claimed the reasons behind his move to turn heel. However, many did not buy the segment and felt it was a work to trick Cody Rhodes. It opens up on some scenarios for their match in the first-ever 2-nighter SummerSlam.
Cena said he trusted Travis Scott and The Rock to help him and was unhappy with the fact that they ghosted him for a major part of the heel run. He claimed that the fans let him know he was wrong, but he failed to acknowledge it. The Leader of the Cenation Army said that the Real John Cena was back on August 1.

Cena and Cody then shared a beer to end the segment. However, the latter's smile on his face meant the fans claimed that something was fishy in the segment. Many failed to believe it was real and claimed it was a part of the story from Cena to deceive Cody, thinking both The Rock and Scott were behind it.

Fans felt Cena could be tricked by Travis and The Rock to believe they're all still on the same page to deceive Cody and say what he did on SmackDown. They believed Travis and The Rock could turn against Cena at SummerSlam, which would actually start his face turn.

However, as per the reports, The Rock is unlikely to show up at SummerSlam, which again opens up other scenarios. It could mean Cena's face turn could be legitimate. However, Cody could embrace his dark side, or potentially, a surprise cash-in from Seth Rollins could destroy their street fight.
