CM Punk is still in the honeymoon stage of his WWE comeback. This past November, the Second City Saint stunned the wrestling world by appearing as essentially a post-credits scene of the WWE Survivor Series, addressing his native Chicago fans on a WWE broadcast for the first time in over a decade. The following Monday, on WWE Monday Night Raw, Punk declared that he was "home" and set his eyes on completing the one goal he had not accomplished in his first WWE run: headlining WWE WrestleMania 40.

Despite having to miss the Showcase of the Immortals due to an unfortunate accident, Punk has continued to be a positive presence in WWE programming, making occasional appearances on the company's three weekly in-ring shows. According to WrestlePurists, CM Punk is "in the process" of having his three-year WWE contract "restructured."

According to reports, punk has the mindset that, "if all goes well," he would "never leave" because he wants to be "here (in WWE) forever." Forever does not imply wrestling till his dying, either. According to the article, "When it's time" for Punk to retire from in-ring combat, he wants to "run NXT." NXT is presently led by WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels.

CM Puk will back in action at SummerSlam

The fact that Punk and WWE Chief Content Officer Paul "Triple H" Levesque have restored their friendship is a major factor in his renewed affection for World Wrestling Entertainment. Throughout the early 2010s, Punk and these two had a genuine falling out, which resulted in Punk leaving the band. Vince McMahon, the former chairman of the WWE, and Punk were not friends. In addition to being accused of sex trafficking, McMahon is no longer associated with WWE in any form.

On Saturday, August 3rd, at WWE SummerSlam, Punk is expected to return to the ring.
