Earlier last month, John Cena declared that he would retire from WWE in 2025 after one more stint. Fans and WWE superstars paid tribute to Cena's great career, which spanned more than two decades. Although he hasn't competed full-time in a while, his presence remains one of the most exciting in WWE once his theme music plays. Several wrestlers saw it as an opportunity to put their names in the hat to fight him as well, as Cena stated that he is ready for anybody.

John Cena disclosed that he will be there when RAW moves to Netflix. Additionally, he declared that his final wrestling appearances will be at WrestleMania 2025, the Royal Rumble, and the Elimination Chamber.

During the Money in the Bank press conference, Punk said that he informed Cena that he wanted one more match with him before calling it quits. Throughout their careers, they've been on opposing sides of the ring multiple times, generating magic, but when it comes to tag teaming, there hasn't been much chance for them to flesh anything out. Their last "tag" match was a three-on-two handicap versus The Shield in 2013.

CM Punk to return at SummerSlam 2024

Punk returned to WWE last autumn following a two-year stint with AEW, which marked his comeback to professional wrestling. After being fired due to legal issues and backstage squabbles, he returned to the WWE for his first broadcast encounter at the Royal Rumble. He was wounded throughout the event, but he competed until the finish when he was eliminated by Cody Rhodes, who became the second straight Royal Rumble winner.

CM Punk has been off the radar since then, but he has continued to work on stories with Seth Rollins and Drew McIntyre on television. He will return to the ring at WWE SummerSlam when he will finally confront McIntyre, who has been a threat in recent months with social media shootings, in-ring promos, and brutal backstage attacks.
