Sammy Guevara, who faced Cody Rhodes as an opponent during Tony Khan's promotion, found great significance in their final encounter. The superstar has spoken out about his encounter with Rhodes during AEW Dynamite: Beach Break 2022, his final AEW match. Even though it was Cody's final match in the AEW, the American Nightmare gave a committed performance. Guevara prevailed over the other in their ladder match for the TNT Championship.

Critics praised about highly, and wrestling expert Dave Meltzer gave it a five-star rating. The match was a big success. Sammy Guevara explained that he was not aware that the game would be Cody's last in an interview with DDP on DDP Yoga.

Inside the Ropes quoted Guevara saying, “Going into that match, Cody, you know him. He wants to give the people a show they’re never gonna forget. I didn’t know it at the time; maybe he did, but that was also his final AEW match. He could have easily phoned it in, but he gave it 110%. He wanted to do so much craziness." He further added, "I know what Cody’s mindset is; it’s just go balls to the walls. So I’m thinking of all these crazy things.”

Sadly, Cody's time with AEW came to an end with the bout. Although the precise reason for Cody's exit from AEW is unknown, it is thought that he had a falling out with Tony Khan, which led to his resignation from the organization. Cody joined AEW in 2019 as a vice president with Tony Khan and The Young Bucks. Better things, though, were in store for Cody Rhodes once he signed with WWE, which he bitterly departed in 2016. When Cody returned at WrestleMania 38, he defeated Seth Rollins in his first match.

Cody Rhodes won the WWE Universal Champion.

He went on to triumph in the Royal Rumble 2023 and the WWE Championship main event match at WrestleMania 39 against Roman Reigns. Still, he snapped. He finished the tale in 2024 when he won the Championship after winning the Royal Rumble and WrestleMania 40, the main event. As the current Undisputed WWE Universal Champion, Cody Rhodes serves as the brand's spokesperson. Since WrestleMania 40, he has made several successful defences of the WWE championship.
