The Halle Open has given us some surprising inclusions in the Grass season that no one ever expected. There have been plenty of upsets and results that have surprised us completely ahead of the semi-finals. One of the players who has impressed us is China's World Number 1, Zhang Zhizhen.

The 27-year-old is currently ranked among the top 50 players in this ATP season and has performed well. The Halle Open is one of the tournaments that he will remember where he beat World number 5 Daniil Medvedev in the pre-quarters. This was one of the biggest victories of Zhang's career, which has given him confidence and it will be interesting to see what he has in store for us in the current Grass season.

Zhang reaches first semi-final on grass

Defeating Medvedev did not seem to be enough for Zhang as he was up against Chris Eubanks in the Quarterfinals. This was a thrilling 3-set match that saw Zhang beat the American and has not only reached his first semi-final on grass but is also the first-ever Chinese player to reach the last four on the surface as well. This was history created by Zhang and he will cherish this victory and will have his eye on the finals and the Halle Open title as well. This was a remarkable feat by him and he will be looking forward to the tournament.

Zhang will now be playing the semi-finals against World number 1 Jannik Sinner, which will be one of the most challenging and tough games he has ever played. Even though Sinner will not make it easy for him, we also don't expect the Chinese surprise package to take him lightly and he will look to get his place in the finals of the tournament.
