The Grass season has begun with a bang and we have seen some great performances from the players who have given their all in this tournament. The Halle Open is filled with some of the top players in the game and is also featuring the likes of World number 1 Jannik Sinner. This has been a tournament that has one of the toughest draws for each of the players.

One of the biggest matches of the day was between Daniil Medvedev and Zhang Zhizhen. Medvedev was not one of the top-ranked players and one of the highest-seeded players in this contest whereas Zhang Zhizhen might be a top 50-ranked player, but has shown some potential in the past that he is capable of beating some of the big players in the game. However, it was still Medvedev who was the clear favourite to win this match.

Medvedev bows out

To be fair it has not been such a great season for Medvedev since he has not won a lot of titles after being the finalist in the Australian Open. The Russian was put on the back foot straight away in the first set itself as he went on to lose it by a score of 6-3. Even though Medvedev came back with a 6-2 victory in the second set, the surprise was yet to come. The third set went down to a tiebreaker that saw Zhang get the better of the World number 5 completely. This was one of the biggest upsets of the tournament so far and another disappointing game for Medvedev.

This continues Medvedev's struggle after a disappointing Clay season. This was not the way he would want to go into Wimbledon which is just weeks away from now. This was another sad ending to one of the top players on the card and he would have wanted some more games in this tournament to get his confidence in the upcoming Grand Slam tournament. We hope that he can finally get back to some form in the upcoming games.
