Tennis star Iga Swiatek has talked about the struggles she went through amid the doping saga she was a part of. Notably, the Polish star served a one-month ban after testing positive for a banned substance named trimetazidine, which is generally used as a heart medication.
The WTA number two was suspended on September 12, 2024, before she missed three tournaments with the likes of the WTA 500 Hana Bank Korea Open, WTA 1000 China Open, and WTA 1000 Dongfeng Voyah Wuhan Open.

Meanwhile, Iga Swiatek described the inner turmoil and chaos of her doping ban on January 10, ahead of the 2025 Australian Open, calling it the worst time of her life. The Pole pulled out of the WTA season in September 2024, citing personal matters to avoid the backlash from the fans. However, the 23-year-old tennis star revealed that she was shocked when she caught wind of such a thing. She recalled her experience and how much trouble she faced in her life.
“I mean, I was as well, trust me. I was the one that was the most surprised. I didn't know if my suspension is going to be that soon or not. Like first three weeks, I would say, were pretty chaotic. There was no way to have any answers to the questions. We just focused on finding the source. But I got to say, yeah, for sure it wasn't easy. It was probably like the worst time in my life. And the fact that I had no control over this whole situation and I had no chance to avoid it," Iga Swiatek said.

However, following the same ITIA, it was confirmed that there was no significant fault or negligence from the player's side at all, and thus the suspension period was kept to one month. It's worth mentioning that the 23-year-old tennis star's doping test came after she won the bronze medal in the 2024 Olympics. Following the same, Swiatek was part of the Poland team that lost to the USA in the final thriller of the 2025 United Cup.
