There have been some amazing stories to hear in Wimbledon 2024 and it has been a tournament all of us have looked forward to which has given us some great matches, however, there have been certain controversies that have been created throughout the tournament. These controversies have caused some hot and cold reactions from the fans, who either support or reject the stand that the athletes have taken.
One of the trending controversies of the season features former World number one and 24-time Grand Slam winner Novak Djokovic, who had called out the fans who were giving negative reactions during his 4th round match with Danish talent Holger Rune. This led to some fans criticising the legend and some just showing their support for calling out the disrespectful people during the match.

McEnroe supports Djokernole
Many experts have given their opinion on the Serbian and one of them was legendary American player and former Wimbledon champion John McEnroe. McEnroe was giving an interview on BBC and when the host Clare Balding asked the question on this matter, the seven-time Grand Slam winner had just one word saying " Well done". It was clear that McEnroe supported the stand taken by Djokovic to reply to the fans who have disrespected him at every step.

It is no surprise that this is coming from John who himself was as passionate as Djokovic during his career. There might be some people who will never agree with this statement, but we also have to remember that Djokovic is playing this tournament on one leg and has made it to his 60th Grand Slam quarter-final. We don't know whether the crowd were just supporting Rune or just booing the legend, but in the end, you still have to respect him to stand up to the disrespectful fans who have only given him negativity throughout his career.

He wasn’t booed…

Au contraire - he was definitely booed.

They were cheering every one of his errors though. Probably worse than booing him. Then again, the jolly hockey sticks Wimbledon crowd is thoroughly nauseating!😂

JMc says it how it is like Djokovic. She is disgusting, it’s not they are rooting for the underdogs it’s HOW they are rooting. And she knows it, but is ignorant, typical British.

Even if he wasn’t, it doesn’t matter. He’s been trying to win respect his whole career, and it’s great that he no longer gives a shit
