The Monte Carlo Masters has begun and the fans wait for the iconic clay season tournament to come to an end. This tournament will feature some big players in the mix such as Novak Djokovic, Jannick Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz. These are some of the best players in the world right now, who have been in the form of their lives. Along with these players there have also been some iconic comebacks in the tournament.

One of them is none other than former world number 3 Stan Wawrinka. The 39-year-old Swiss has been known to be one of the most technically gifted players to ever grace the game. The 3-time grand slam winner and 16- time ATP singles title holder was given a wild card entry into the current Monte Carlo masters main draw which he last won in 2014 when he won against Roger Fedrer.

Wawrinka faces crushing defeat vs Alex de Minaur

This was the moment for Wawrinka to comeback into this season in a tournament where he has had some great success. Wawrinka was up against a worthy competitor in Alex de Minaur who is one of the fastest players on the court and currently holds a ranking of 11 in ATP. However, this was one of the most disappointing tournaments for the experienced Swiss player, who looked incredibly out of touch. Wawrinka did not only lose two straight sets against the Australian, but was completely outplayed in both of them as well losing 6-3 in the first and 6-0 in the second.

This was not what everyone planned to witness with two really successful players playing against each other. Wawrinka might not be at his absolute best, but after seeing his game throughout the years, it is tough to see a once high ranked player lose in this fashion. No one ever thought that Wawrinka would be eliminated in the most brutal fashion in this tournament. We hope to see him come back from this disappointing loss in the next few tournaments.
