Team India's star player, Sumit Nagal, has hit down under to feature in the calendar year's first Grand Slam event, the 2025 Australian Open, slated to take place from January 12. The first Grand Slam of the year will commence on January 12 at the Melbourne Park in Melbourne. Nagal posted a video clip of him training with Australian star player Nick Kyrgios, who is making his return to the Grand Slam after two years due to injuries.

In the same match, 27-year-old Indian star Nagal was seen serving to a local boy who made a strong return down the line. Nagal clinched his first set of the game in the air to showcase the point won by him.

Local boy Nick Kyrgios eyes Australian Open comeback

Nick Kyrgios, who is set to make his long-awaited return to Melbourne Park for the first time since 2022 after undergoing knee and wrist surgery over the past year, admits that his return to the game has been a rollercoaster. After nearly a year away from the spot, the Canberra-born star's return has been anything but straightforward in the game. The star player's comeback began at the 2025 Brisbane International, where he played two doubles games with Novak Djokovic and narrowly lost singles to Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard.

"This morning I was out there feeling pretty good. I still have three days before the tournament starts for me. I'm just taking it day by day, enjoying all the moments again—being a part of the tournament, going through the hallways and locker room, seeing everyone again. It's been an emotional time for me the last couple of weeks. We watch sports because we want personalities," Kyrgios said during a press conference. "
