There have been a lot of legendary players throughout the ages whom we have enjoyed watching through the years and win major titles during their prime. Even though these players have been on top for most of their careers, there comes a time that even the best of players have to call it a day and retire from the game that has made them. This might be slightly heartbreaking for some fans, but it is inevitable in the long run.

One of the most emotional and heartbreaking retirements that came in the 2020s was Swiss Maestro Roger Federer's retirement from the game. The 20-time Grand Slam champion and former World number 1 is easily one of the greatest players we have ever seen in the game. It has been a great career that we will remember for a long time and remember the Swiss Maestro's legacy which has more success than failures.

Federer speaks on retirement

Though Roger Federer is now retired, he is still inspiring everyone with his words off the court and has shown a lively side of his personality and seems to still be following the game. The Swiss legend in a recent interview was asked about his retirement and also mentioned his big-time rivals Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray, and Rafael Nadal. It turns out Federer wants the three to play as much as they can and play forever. When asked if there will be a time when they will eventually have to retire. The Maestro agrees, but also mentions that the longer they play the sport always better.

Though there will be players who will not completely agree with this statement, we have to remember that Federer has given this answer as a fan and has had a long history with the three players as well. These are once again encouraging words from Federer as he talks about one of the best players he has ever played and he wishes all of them can play as long as they can.
