Tennis star Paula Badosa defeated Coco Gauff by 7-5, 6-4 in the quarterfinal of the 2025 Australian Open at Rod Laver Arena of Melbourne Park on January 21. The two star players showcased stellar performances on the court, but ultimately, the Spanish star became the first woman of the ongoing season to book the berth in the semifinal thriller.

Badosa had a great start to the game, comfortably winning the first set and breaking the USA star's nine-winning streak. The 27-year-old tennis star maintained his form in the second set and marked the straight-set win over the 20-year-old American sensation. 

After winning the game against Coco Gauff, Badosa's priceless reaction to the win has gone viral. She falls on her knees and is overcome with emotions.

Earlier, on January 19, Paula Badosa advanced to the quarter-finals of the 2025 Australian Open after defeating Olga Danilovic in the fourth round of the year's first Grand Slam at Margaret Court Arena of Melbourne Park.

Meanwhile, Paula Badosa expressed her happiness after she made it to the last four. She revealed that last year she sustained the grave injuries in the tournament, and doctors have advised her to retire from the sport, which was heartbreaking news for her. However, the star player's resilience and determination make her advance to the semifinal thriller.

“A year ago I was here.. I didn’t know if I’d have to retire from the sport. I won today. I’m in the semifinals. I would never think a year later I would be here," Paula Badosa said after the win.
