The Australian team reach their third consecutive Davis Cup semi final after Matthew Ebden and Max Purcell ensure straight victory against Ben Shelton and Tommy Paul in the decisive doubles game. The Aussies continue to fly high and will face either Italy or Argentina in their upcoming match on saturday.

The Davis Cup Finals are on and there are still some more great games to watch out for this season. The match everyone was looking forward to this season was between last year's runnerup Australia and 32-time Davis Cup champions USA. Both the teams had their fair share of great players with USA having the likes of Taylor Fritz and Tommy Paul and the Aussies featuring upcoming stars in the form of Alex de Minaur and Alexei Popyrin in their ranks.

Ebden and Thompson win the decisive match

The quarter finals between USA and Australia was another thrilling match full off surprises. It was Thanasi Kokkinakis who set the tone for the Aussies by winning a thrilling 3-set encounter against Ben Shelton. However, American number 1 Taylor Fritz made sure the 32-time champions were still in the game and the match was to be decided through a decisive doubles match between Matthew Ebden/Jordan Thompson and Tommy Paul/Ben Shelton. This is where the Aussies made sure they reached their third consecutive semi finals by beating the American duo in straight sets with scores of 6-4 each.

This was a great match between two competitive teams and the Aussies will be happy that they will be still in the game. However they still have two more wins to get and the competition in Malaga will be getting tougher with a lot of great teams and players to watch out for.
