American number 1 Taylor Fritz wins his fourth consecutive match against Alexander Zverev and qualifies for his maiden ATP Finals championship match. The US Open finalist gets the better of the German once again this season and is set to face either Jannik Sinner or Casper Ruud in the final match.
The day where we finally get the champion of the last tournament of the ATP season is coming really close and we already had a thrilling match between World number 2 Alexander Zverev and American number 1 Taylor Fritz. The match went down to all three sets and it was the US Open finalist who had the last laugh beating the German with scores of 6-3, 3-6 and 7(7)- 6(3).
Taylor gets the better of the German again
There is no doubt that this was a thrilling match where both the players deserve credit for the way they have performed in the tournament. Everyone might have thought that Zverev was the favorite especially after his unbeaten run in the round robin stage. However, we also should not have forgotten that Taylor Fritz had beaten the Tokyo Olympics gold medalist three times in a row before the match. Though Zverev did manage to keep himself alive during the match, It was Taylor Fritz who ruled the crucial tiebreaker beating him for the fourth consecutive time this season.
This was disappointing for Zverev who was looking like one of the favorites to win the ATP Finals for the third time this season. Unfortunately this moment now belongs to the US Open finalist who will now be playing his maiden ATP Finals championship game where he will either be up against World number 1 Jannik sinner or Norwegian Ice man Casper Ruud. It will be interesting to see what Fritz has in store for us in the final match of the ATP season where he will be up against another top player.
