The 2024 Grand Slam season ended with Jannik Sinner and Aryna Sabalenka emerging as the champions of both the Australian Open and the US Open. Despite strong performances from American players at their home slam, Sinner and Sabalenka showcased why they are formidable forces on the Tour.

Sabalenka: Queen of Hard-Courts

Aryna Sabalenka, a familiar face in Arthur Ashe Stadium finals, overcame the home crowd and her opponent to secure her first US Open singles crown. Her victory over Pegula with a 7-5, 7-5 scoreline marked her third major title and solidified her status as a dominant force on the hard court. Following her successful 2023 season, 2024 can be seen as a breakout year for Sabalenka, as she finishes as the only two-time major winner on the WTA Tour this season.

Sinner cements himself as World Number One

In 2024, Jannik Sinner experienced an incredible journey at the US Open. Despite previous setbacks in New York City, he displayed unwavering determination and skill, ultimately securing his second Grand Slam victory. Sinner's remarkable performance solidified his status as the year-long No. 1 ranked player, marking a historic moment as the first Italian man to claim the US Open title. Despite facing a challenging opponent in Taylor Fritz, Sinner's exceptional display of talent prevented the crowd from witnessing an American champion on home soil, much like Sabalenka's triumph.

Margaritas, Hamburgers and French Fries part of Champions Celebrations

During a recent media interview, the champions discussed how they celebrated their victory at the Flushing Meadows.

Sabalenka shared that she cherished the moment with her entire team, enjoying a hearty meal and drinks. She mentioned savouring margaritas to mark the occasion.

Sinner humorously mentioned that he didn't opt for margaritas, stating, "I'm a bit cheap, I guess." He expressed his delight in celebrating such moments with delectable cuisine, including his favourites like Hamburgers and French Fries. Furthermore, he highlighted that they celebrated the joyous moment in their unique way, emphasizing that it's not just about the food.

Sabalenka stated, "Well yeah, we spent time with the team. We had fun, we had drinks, good food, you know. We need to feel this relief and yeah and yeah a lot of Margaritas!"

Sinner revealed, "Well, I'm a bit cheaper, I guess. No, it's um, I always love to celebrate with food. I love food, and even if I'm like this. Yeah, I love Hamburgers, I love French Fries, obviously then after we also celebrate in a different way, but, you know I surround myself."
