In August, Swiatek tested positive for low traces of trimetazidine (TMZ) but received a one-month suspension on November 28 after a finding of no significant fault or negligence. It was determined that the positive result stemmed from her unintentional consumption of contaminated melatonin pills.

The Pole had already severed a provisional suspension from September 12 to October 4 before her appeal being accepted. As a result, her ban, which was imposed on November 8, is scheduled to extend through December 4.

On November 28, Iga Swiatek took to Instagram to confront the recent controversy head-on with a decisive video message. The Polish athlete outlined the investigation process in detail, clearly sharing the specifics surrounding her suspension.

Iga Swiatek will kick off her 2025 season, rendering national duty representing Poland at the United Cup. She is also set to compete in an exhibition outing called the World Tennis League (WTL).

"After finding the source, we needed time for the whole matter to be concluded. On September 12, I was provisionally suspended, making me unable to play the tournaments in Asia or defend my ranking," Swiatek said.

"Clearly, it’s a consequence of this situation, but not the most important one for me. What mattered the most for me was to prove my innocence. Now that the whole thing is drawing to a close, I was put on a symbolic one-month suspension. 22 days are behind me, eight days still to go," Iga Swiatek added.
