Tennis sensation Gael Monfils has showcased loyalty to his wife and top WTA star Elina Svitolina in the French Open 2025. The Frenchman has picked his wife as a top favorite to win the title of Roland Garros. Notably, the duo has been in red-hot form on their respective tours. Svitolina has recently won the WTA 250 tournament Rouen Open, and later made it to the semi-finals of the Madrid Open 2025.

Elina Svitolina's powerful start in the 2025 French Open

The two players are in action at the French Open 2025. Monfils has yet to begin his tournament this week. On the other hand, the Ukrainian star registered a stellar win over Zeynep Sonmez in the opening round and advanced to the next round.

The Frenchman and other ATP players were asked to select their favorites to win the women's event this year. Many of the players named Aryna Sabalenka, while Monfils named his wife, Elina Svitolina, and also talked about her potential to win the second Grand Slam of the year. His belief in his wife showcases the two players' mutual respect and how they encouraged and motivated each other in their respective ATP and WTA tours.

"Hopefully, my wife, probably my wife. She's in great form so I think I'll trust her to win," Gael Monfils said.

Meanwhile, the 30-year-old Svitolina also spoke about her relationship with her husband, Monfils, and how he has played a crucial role in her career.

"I feel like we are motivating each other, me and Gael. Keep pushing, keep trying to win matches, win titles. He won a title in Auckland and last week in Rouen. We’re trying to keep up with each other and just trying to enjoy every opportunity that we have," Svitolina said at the 2025 Madrid Open.
