Why does Elena Rybakina pull out of the Stuttgart Open 2025?
The Kazakh star's 2025 season is set to get worse as Rybakina has recently revealed that she won't be making her appearance in the Stuttgart Open. The 2024 champion is set to lose crucial 500 points for not making her appearance in the prestigious tournament. In addition to this, she will not be in the top 10 WTA rankings after her poor performance in the Miami Open 2025, where she crashed out in the opening round.
The 25-year-old star won the 2024 Stuttgart Open after a blistering win over Iga Swiatek in the semi-finals before toppling Marta Kostyuk in the final showdown. She is set to represent her nation at the Billie Jean King Cup qualifiers, which led her to opt out of the Stuttgart Open, but this also came at the cost of affecting her rank. Elena Rybakina said that her schedule is overall packed and it will be tough for her to make her appearance at the Stuttgart Open.
"I know that the schedule overall is very packed, and it’s not easy to even schedule Billie Jean King Cup,. But ideally, if we go to one part of the world, it will be nicer to play the same part. Now, for example, the clay court [season] starts and [some have] already played even tournaments on clay. So to come back and play hard, it’s a bit tricky. And ideally, if there is a tournament, it’s better to schedule it closer to where we want to be," Elena Rybakina said.
