Tennis star Daniil Medvedev showcased his renowned tactical skills and pragmatic approach in his round of 16 wins against Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard at the Dubai Duty-Free Tennis Championships 2025.
Facing the young Frenchman's powerful serve, which was consistently clocking at a high speed in the game, the Russian remained calm and composed and relied on his exceptional returning skills in the game.
The star player was seen employing a strategy of forcing Mpetshi Perricard into extended baseline rallies, effectively neutralizing the opponent's serving advantage. The 28-year-old tennis player's ability to consistently return powerful serves and extended rallies and showed his defensive strengths in the game. This thriller was won by Medvedev's consistency and his ability to make very few unforced errors in the game.
A key aspect of this game was Medvedev's ability to handle Mpetshi Perricard's serve in the game. Meanwhile, the Russian star is now set to face Tallon Griekspoor in the quarter-final clash. The former world number one has opened up about facing Tallon in the next round.
"It's crazy. We've actually trained quite a bit. I see him a lot on TV, he probably sees me a lot on TV as well, so we know what to expect. The truth is, I was really impressed with his level today; it seemed to be increasing throughout the match. It was a great match to defeat a defending champion who was also in great form. So, I'm looking forward to it; he's a tough opponent, and I hope to show my best tennis," Daniil Medvedev said after the win.
