WATCH: Carlos Alcaraz laughs at the bees

Dressed in yellow and black stripes, the human bees shouted when the cameras showed them. Last year, during the Indian Wells Open match, there was a real bee invasion, and Carlos Alcaraz ran for his life. The incident happened during the quarterfinals match against Alexander Zverev.

A swarm of bees entered the arena and chased everyone there. The tennis match had to be suspended for a while till the bees were cleared from the arena. Alcaraz ran and hid somewhere and came out only after the bees were chased away. The Indian Wells fans came dressed up like bees to make fun of Alcaraz and to tease him. During his match against Denis, several cameras focused on people wearing bee dresses, and immediately they started teasing the spanish player.

This humour brought a smile to the face of a tense Carlos doing winning proceedings. Even the fans present at the arena laughed and cheered for them. Last year's bee invasion was evaded by the valiant effort of a local beekeeper named Lance Davis. He works there in the BNP Paribas tennis arena to save people from these situations, as the arena is very near to the mountains and is vulnerable to bee invasions.

But the ATP No 3 wasn’t distracted by bees this time as he was at his best form. Alcaraz beat Denis Shapovalov 6-2, 6-4 and won in straight sets. Alcaraz will now play Bulgarian player Grigor Dimitrov in the next round. Dimitrov played a highly intensive game against French tennis player Gael Monfils and won the match 7-6 (7-6), 4-6, 7-6 (7-2). This was one of the best matches ever in the BNP Paribas Open, and fans were overjoyed to see the two players display excellent tennis spirit.
