WATCH: Aryna Sabalenka wins her maiden US Open title and finishes her story

It was time for Grand Slam finals for the Womens singles and everyone at the Arthur Ashe were looking forward to this event. The battle was between two of the most experienced players in the game and there is no doubt we all were waiting to witness another great battle between Aryna sabalenka and Jessica pegula and see who is finally going to lift the US Open 2024 Womens singles title.

There have been some great battles between Aryna Sabalenka and Jessica Pegula and to see them once again this time for a Grand Slam final was something everyone wanted to see. There was no doubt that the Belarusian was the favorite in this game being in her second consecutive US Open final and being the World number 2, but she was still up against a worthy competitor Pegula and still had to go through her to win her maiden Grand Slam title in New York.

Sabalenka becomes US Open champion

The first set saw some great highlights between the players, where it was neck-in-neck at one stage, but eventually it was the World number 2 who took the set by a score of 7-5 and keeps the lead in the championship game. The second set was another close battle between the two, but it was the Belarusian who finally won the game and wins her maiden US Open title. This was one of the best peformances from the World number 2 and she has finally won the title which she missed out on last season.

This was a great match and though this was a straight victory for Sabalenka, Jessica Pegula still gave her a battle in the two sets. However the Belarusian always came fighting back when she was down and went on to win her 3rd career Grand Slam title. This was a really important tournament for Sabalenka who had to fight a lot of difficulties and it is great to see her finally triumph at the Flushing Meadows.
